For the second time in succession, the video on-demand platform (VoD) PANTAFLIX is the official screening platform for the GERMAN FILM AWARDS. Those eligible to vote can now access the preselected films on PANTAFLIX and first pick the nominations, then later the winners of the GERMAN FILM AWARDS, the Golden LOLAs. The films are available for streaming exclusively on the online screening platform and are thus also accessible from abroad and on mobile devices. This means that PANTAFLIX offers all eligible voters a unique alternative to the standard DVD box set.
The preselected documentaries had already been announced on 14 December 2017, the feature films and childrens’ movies were named today. For online viewing worldwide, PANTAFLIX is providing both a web version and an iOS App. The preselected films are only accessible to the group of people designated as voters by the GERMAN FILM ACADEMY and are available for viewing until the nominations are announced in mid-March. The nominated films can be viewed until the GERMAN FILM AWARDS are awarded on 27 April 2018. PANTAFLIX technology conforms to the highest security standards, thus ensuring that the films cannot be used by unauthorized persons or be copied. PANTAFLIX also provides technical and legal advice relating to the presentation of films on the FILM AWARDS platform. No costs arise for producers and distributors showing their works there.
The GERMAN FILM AWARDS ceremony will take place on 27 April 2018 in Berlin’s Radio Tower Palais. The LOLA is recognized as one of the most important and most lucrative German film prizes. The winners are chosen by the 1900 and more members of the GERMAN FILM ACADEMY; these voters represent all artistic branches of film-making.
