PANTAFLIX makes a film available online worldwide simultaneously with the theater release for the first time

On 3 December 2017, PANTAFLIX AG will make a film available online on its VoD platform PANTAFLIX at the same time as its cinema release in Germany for the first time. The film “Als der Weihnachtsmann vom Himmel fiel” (“When Santa fell from the sky”) will be accessible on the platform simultaneously to its release in German movie theaters. Except for the German-speaking territories – Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol and Luxembourg – the film will be available globally on PANTAFLIX.

“This day-and-date release represents an important next step: we are making a film available on PANTAFLIX in parallel to the cinema release for the first time,” says Stefan Langefeld, COO of PANTAFLIX AG. “This step once again proves our aspiration to become the most innovative video-on-demand provider. With this, we once more reach a significant milestone as a partner for filmmakers and studios. Usually, valuable months are passed by through a cinema premiere and the global availability of a movie. In these months a movie cannot be exploited and additional income cannot yet be generated. To shorten this timeframe translates to higher sales potential for all parties involved.”

The film “Als der Weihnachtsmann vom Himmel fiel” is a performance by the Augsburger Puppenkiste puppet theater, produced for the cinema by Kiko Productions. It will be premiere at movie theaters starting 3 December 2017.
